Sam Boulton – Player Spotlight!

In the heart of Larkhall Athletic, club captain Sam Boulton, a stalwart centre-back, reflects on his connection with the club. With a career that spans various stages, Sam shares his experiences, aspirations, and the camaraderie that defines Larkhall Athletic.

“The club has good heart and is a pleasure to play for,” Sam affirms. “The staff and players are honest and respectful, and to me, that goes a long way.”

Beyond the defensive battles on the pitch, Sam reveals a rather surprising choice for his favourite thing about playing for Larks… Is it the incredible club spirit? Or perhaps Sam loves the camaraderie in the dressing room?

“The chicken and chips”

I’ve not personally had my chance to try the clubhouse cuisine yet, so I can’t argue with that.

As we explore his footballing journey, Sam traces his steps from Bristol Rovers youth, to stints as a scholar at both Southampton and Yeovil. His path led him through Frome Town, Yate Town, and Manor Farm, each chapter contributing to the seasoned player he is today. Sam says he still has high aspirations for what he can achieve with Larks. “I want to complete my football career as a southern league player, hit the play-offs a few more times and potentially win a title.”

Away from the intense world of football and his career as an endoscopic sales specialist, Sam enjoys the simple pleasure of walking his dogs. But what else does our club captain get up to in his spare time?

“Pumping cold hard iron, styling my hair like Matt Bowman, and saving up for my match fines,” muses our unique club captain.

Acknowledging the importance of role models in his life, Sam pauses for a moment before remarking “Larkhall’s club captain seems a top bloke”.

Every team has its characters, and for Larks, it appears Sam is not the only comic: It’s Jack Camm who holds the title of the squad joker. “But you can ask him,” Sam quips, leaving room for the stories that undoubtedly can’t be written down.

In a closing message to the fans, Sam expresses genuine gratitude. “Love you all, keep up the support. You help keep the club going and make each Saturday far more enjoyable. UP THE LARKS!”

In Sam Boulton, Larkhall Athletic not only has a resilient centre-back but a captain who leads with heart, determination, and a heap of good humour.
