Janet Coombes

We have very sad news.

A familiar face at Plain Ham for nearly 60 years, Janet Coombes sadly passed away in her sleep on Monday 4th March 2024.

Awarded Sports Person of the year in 2017 and elected a Life Member of the club in 2019, she had blue blood flowing through her veins and was a treasured member of club royalty.

Countless players and club officials have much enjoyed her lemon drizzles and rich fruit cake on match days. Even more of the Larkhall faithful have contributed many coins to her match day raffle collection, which she regularly made with sister Terisha.

Janet was a gentle and generous soul and an outstanding supporter of the club home and away. She attended all of the club events, fun days, quizzes and Xmas lunches. She was a match sponsor every season, generally in honour of her husband Mike who brought her to Larkhall from Radstock all of those years ago.

She was a regular playing member of the City of Bath Petanque Club here at Plain Ham, and a devoted attendee of the Walcot Methodist Church. Both the COBPC and her fellow worshippers will be very saddened by her loss.

Sudden and unexpected was her passing, but her memory will live long in the hearts of all her friends and family at Plain Ham.

Janet you fully deserve to Rest in Peace.

Our thoughts and much love go to son Paul and family, Claire, Emma and Jamie, and to her sister Terisha and brother-in-law Clive.

We will tomorrow evening hold a minute’s silence for one of the Club’s most legendary volunteers and friends.
