Larks clip Seagulls’ wings

The Larks kept their good run going with a gutsy victory over their fellow playoff hopefuls from Cornwall.

Played in high winds on a heavy pitch this was always going to be a game of narrow margins. The hosts took their early goal with aplomb, Archie Ferris launching a swerving shot into the near corner of Ollie Chermoweth’s goal, assisted by Alex Lambert. It was nearly 2-0 when Alex collected a superb pass from Sam Boulton but couldn’t finish it off. Full back Jack Goodall then sent a 40 yard effort across the face of the Mousehole goal. Tim Nixon was making dangerous runs down the right wing for the Seagulls but the Larks defence held firm. Archie nearly doubled his tally following some impressive play from midfield but the goal was disallowed.

Partway through the second half Mousehole had their best chance when Hayden Turner drew a fabulous full stretch save from Arthur Nasta. Ethan Cannings then got close to scoring but Chernoweth punched the ball out for a corner. Sonny Passco’s fresh legs helped hardworking Harvey Pritchard keep the ball and the points were ours.
