Larkhall Athletic Appoint John Durbin as New Assistant Manager

Larkhall Athletic are delighted to confirm the appointment of John Durbin as our new Assistant Manager ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

A respected figure in non-league football across the South West, Durbin arrives at Plain Ham with an impressive coaching pedigree and a clear passion for the game—qualities that align perfectly with the club’s ambition to push forward in the new season.

He joins following a varied and successful coaching journey, including promotion-winning campaigns and record-setting finishes at multiple clubs. His coaching CV includes stints at Hengrove Athletic, Shepton Mallet, Paulton Rovers, Brislington, and most recently Bristol Manor Farm, where he helped keep the side in play-off contention.

Speaking about his arrival, Durbin said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Larkhall. It’s always been a club I’ve admired and enjoyed visiting when I’ve played against them, so when Pricey contacted me about joining him in the dugout, I jumped at the chance.
Our ambitions for the club are aligned and although this season has just ended, I can’t wait to get started!”

Durbin’s track record includes:

  • Promotion as assistant at Hengrove Athletic, followed by a 9th-place finish in the Western League Premier Division—the highest in the club’s history—as manager.
  • A record-breaking tenure as joint manager of Shepton Mallet, achieving their highest league position and best FA Cup run.
  • Leading Paulton Rovers to a Somerset Cup Final as joint manager.
  • Contributing to Brislington’s promotion from Western League Division One as first team coach.
  • Helping Bristol Manor Farm stay firmly in the play-off mix in the Southern League during his brief spell.

First Team Manager Ollie Price, who worked quickly to bring Durbin into the fold, was full of praise:

“Delighted that Durbs has agreed to join my management team. His knowledge, experience and personality is exactly what we need to improve us moving forward. I’m looking forward to working with him as he shares the same passion and enthusiasm that I do. Let’s go to work.”

Director of Football, Andy Gilbert added

The season may have only just finished but the planning for next campaign started a while ago. The completion of an end of year review has lead to exciting changes at the club, aligned to our football vision.

“It’s great to welcome John Durbin to the club. John’s experience, exposure and relationships will add great value to the Larks as we build the structure for competitive success.”

Everyone at the club extends a warm welcome to John Durbin. The hard work for the new season starts now.
