A win on the road! Exmouth Town 1-3 Larkhall Athletic
The Larks finally got back to winning ways at Exmouth Town on Saturday, after a gutsy comeback against Bashley midweek.
Although the home side scored first thanks to Ben Griffith, the Larks were creating chances from the start and did not let their heads drop. Harvey Pritchard was a thorn in the side of the Exmouth defence all game and his endeavour paid off when he cued up Ryan Beckinsale with a neat cross. This equaliser, just before half time, gave the Larks a good foothold in the game which they went on to exploit in style.
Only some fine goalkeeping from Frankie Phillips kept the scores level with only 20 minutes to play but the momentum was with the visitors and our second goal was a peach, a 30 yard left-footed strike from Spencer Dymond-Hall (his first Larks goal!) which gave Phillips no chance. Moments later Eben Mortimer-Taylor put the game beyond Exmouth’s reach, slotting the ball under Phillips. We nearly made it 4 when Evrard Yao beat the Exmouth defence only for Phillips to pull off another brave save.
Speaking after the game, Ollie Price was pleased with the performance. “It was a superb win on the road, backing up a hard-fought draw on Wednesday against Bashley. In the last two games, we’ve shown the character you need and proven what a good team we are. I just wanted us to build on Wednesday’s performance, and we certainly did that. It’s very pleasing to have three different goalscorers, as that’s something you need over the course of a season.”
