Basingstoke Town 1 – Larkhall Athletic 2

A volatile night on and off the pitch made this a tense game for the Larks players and fans alike.

Shaun Semmens made a spectacular penalty save very early into the first half. Alex Lambert scored the opener and the Larks were looking comfortable despite the constant barrage of protests from the Basingstoke Town support.

Brad Norris scored a screamer from outside the box, doubling the tally, only to be sent off moments later for what can only be described as a mild challenge at best.

The second half continued as the first with the Larks dominating a lot of the game, peppering the Basingstoke goal, hitting the crossbar and forcing saves.

In the rare moments that Basingstoke pushed forward and passed our solid defensive back line, Shaun pulled off out some Gordon Banks style saves to keep us clearly ahead.

Eventually the spare man did count as 5 minutes from close Basingstoke pulled one back making the final score Basingstoke Town 1 – Larkhall Athletic 2.

Man of The Match: Shaun Semmens.
